‘Shogun’ scoops 11 Emmys, eyes more wins at Creative Arts Emmy Awards upcoming

The excitement was palpable as the highly acclaimed series “Shogun” swept the Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday night, taking home a remarkable 11 awards. The show, a FX production set in feudal Japan, dominated the night and solidified its place in television history.

With 25 total nominations, “Shogun” cleaned up in categories ranging from costumes and makeup to editing and stunt work. The show’s standout performance was recognized with a best guest actor in a drama Emmy for Néstor Carbonell, who graciously thanked the hardworking crew for their dedication.

The immense success of “Shogun” at the Creative Arts Emmys sets the stage for an equally impressive showing at the main Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Dan and Eugene Levy. The industry eagerly anticipates whether the series will continue its winning streak at the upcoming ceremony.

In addition to “Shogun,” other notable winners of the night included “The Bear,” which scooped up four awards, and Michaela Coel, who claimed the title of best guest actress in a comedy series for her role in “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.”

While scripted work took center stage at Sunday night’s event, reality and variety TV were celebrated on Saturday evening, with luminaries such as Maya Rudolph and Angela Bassett among the winners.

Fans of television can catch all the highlights from both nights in a special 2 1/2 hour show airing on FXX and streaming on Hulu, showcasing the best moments from the Creative Arts Emmys.
