ZANDVOORT – The Dutch Grand Prix witnessed an exhilarating battle on Sunday as Lando Norris clinched victory, becoming the first driver to outshine Max Verstappen at the champion’s home race. This triumph not only secured another win for Norris but also chipped away at Verstappen’s lead in the standings.
Norris, who started from pole position, had a shaky start, allowing Verstappen to take the lead in the initial laps. However, the McLaren driver displayed exceptional skill and determination to close the gap and ultimately overtake Verstappen on the 18th lap, setting himself on course for his second career win and McLaren’s third victory of the season.
Verstappen settled for second place, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc secured the final spot on the podium after fending off Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri.
With this win, Verstappen’s winless streak extends to five races, marking his longest drought since 2020. Moreover, Norris’s victory ends Verstappen’s reign as the sole driver to win at the Dutch Grand Prix since its revival in 2021. Notably, Norris becomes the first McLaren driver to claim victory in the Netherlands since Niki Lauda in 1985.
