Indianapolis Colts Cornerback Jaylon Jones Named AFC Defensive Player of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Colts cornerback Jaylon Jones was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in Week 3.
Jones, a Steele High School alum, showcased his skills with five tackles, two interceptions, and a tackle for loss in the Colts’ 21-16 victory over the Bears. His standout performance made him the second player this season to achieve two interceptions in a single game, following Ja’Marcus Ingram of the Buffalo Bills in Week 2.
These two interceptions mark the first of Jones’ career and the first two for the Colts this season. His interceptions came against rookie and 2024 first overall draft pick Caleb Williams.
This accolade is the first Defensive Player of the Week Award in Jones’ career. He joins a prestigious list of Colts defensive backs who have won the award in the past 10 years, including Mike Adams, Darius Butler, Mike Mitchell, Xavier Rhodes, and Kenny Moore.
Coming off a successful senior year in 2019 as a five-star recruit committed to Texas A&M, Jones was selected by the Colts with the 221st overall pick in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
