The Israeli military has initiated a “limited, localized” operation against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. This operation involves “targeted ground raids” in villages near the Israeli border that are deemed a threat to communities in northern Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a warning to Iran, which supports Hezbollah and Hamas. Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s ability to reach any location in the Middle East. This warning comes after an airstrike south of Beirut killed the leader of Hezbollah, who is backed by Tehran.

Hezbollah’s acting leader, Naim Kassem, reassured the group’s determination to continue the fight following the death of Hassan Nasrallah, the longtime chief. Israel has recently assassinated several top commanders of Hezbollah, but Kassem stated that replacements are ready.

Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have escalated with almost daily exchanges of fire since Hamas initiated attacks on Israel. While the focus was initially on Gaza, recent events have shifted attention towards Lebanon, where Israel has now encountered Hezbollah targets.
