Exciting News for Teamsters as Vice President Kamala Harris to Host Roundtable Discussion
Members of the Teamsters are eagerly anticipating a roundtable discussion with Vice President Kamala Harris in the near future. However, union President Sean O’Brien has yet to receive an invitation to speak at the upcoming Democratic National Convention next week.
Kara Deniz, a spokeswoman for the 1.3 million member union, revealed in an email on Friday that the Teamsters are in talks with Harris’ campaign to finalize dates for the roundtable event.
Despite O’Brien’s request to speak at the Democratic National Convention, which kicks off in Chicago on Monday, there has been no response from the organizers. O’Brien had made the same request to both Democrats and Republicans, as confirmed by Deniz.
While O’Brien may not be scheduled to speak, it has been revealed that the Teamsters will have a presence on the convention stage, according to a person familiar with the planning who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Stay tuned as the Teamsters deliberate on their presidential endorsement post-conventions, with most major unions already throwing their support behind Harris, including the AFL-CIO and the United Auto Workers.
The Teamsters’ engagement with both Trump and Harris has sparked conversations and debates within the labor movement, with Trump’s recent comments on social media drawing criticism from unions for his stance on worker rights.
Despite the political nuances, the Teamsters remain focused on advocating for the working class and ensuring their members’ voices are heard on both sides of the political spectrum. As the convention season unfolds, all eyes are on the influential union and its decision-making process.
