Juan Soto Hits Three Home Runs in Game, Powers Yankees to Victory
CHICAGO – Juan Soto made history on Tuesday night by hitting three home runs in a game for the first time in his career. The New York Yankees slugger showcased his power against the Chicago White Sox with three consecutive homers.
Soto’s impressive performance started with a two-run shot to left field off starter Jonathan Cannon in the third inning, followed by a leadoff homer in the fifth inning.
The four-time All-Star continued his onslaught by hitting his 33rd homer of the season in the seventh inning off left-handed reliever Fraser Ellard, extending the Yankees’ lead to 4-0.
Despite the opportunity to tie the major league record of four home runs in a game, Soto walked his final time up in the ninth inning. He laughed off swinging and missing at a 3-0 pitch slightly out of the strike zone.
Soto’s remarkable performance led the Yankees to a 4-1 victory against the White Sox, propelling them to the top of the AL East, surpassing Baltimore by a half-game.
This marked the 40th three-homer game in Yankees history, including the postseason. Earlier in the summer, rookie Ben Rice achieved this feat on July 6 against Boston.
Soto, at 25 years old, now has 23 career multi-homer games, second only to Hall of Famer Mel Ott with 24 at the same age.
In his last 28 games, Soto is hitting .351 with 12 home runs and a 1.233 OPS, showcasing his incredible form at the plate.
When asked about his success, Soto credited his focus on being accurate with his hitting, aiming to connect with the barrel and letting his talent shine.
