SAN ANTONIO – A dramatic rescue took place early Thursday morning on the city’s Northeast Side, as firefighters from the San Antonio Fire Department saved a woman from a blazing fire.
The incident unfolded just before 8 a.m. at a residence in the 5100 block of Prince Valiant Drive, located near Loop 410 and Eisenhauer Road.
Firefighters worked swiftly to pull the elderly woman to safety, and eventually managed to extinguish the flames engulfing the home.
The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries, as confirmed by SAFD officials.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway, with the house deemed a total loss in the aftermath of the blaze.
Responding to the emergency call were units from the San Antonio Fire Department, the San Antonio Police Department, and EMS teams, with up to 18 fire units on the scene to combat the fire as swiftly as possible.
