Wojnarowski leaving ESPN to GM St. Bonaventure basketball squad

Exciting news in the basketball world as ESPN NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski announces his retirement from broadcasting to return to his alma mater, St. Bonaventure. The Atlantic 10 school revealed that Wojnarowski will be taking on the role of general manager for the men’s basketball program, working alongside coach Mark Schmidt and his team.

In his new position, Wojnarowski will be responsible for various tasks such as managing name, image, and likeness opportunities, overseeing the transfer portal, handling recruiting efforts, and maintaining alumni player relationships.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the opportunity, Wojnarowski stated, “I’m thrilled and humbled to return to St. Bonaventure, sharing best practices from successful NBA franchises and minds to benefit our players both on and off the court.”

A St. Bonaventure graduate with a journalism degree in 1991, Wojnarowski has had a distinguished career, earning accolades such as two-time APSE Columnist of the Year and National Sports Media Association’s National Sportswriter of the Year.

Coach Schmidt lauded Wojnarowski’s addition to the staff as a “home run,” emphasizing the importance of Wojnarowski’s expertise in the evolving landscape of college basketball.

Located in the picturesque Allegany Mountains of New York, St. Bonaventure looks forward to leveraging Wojnarowski’s industry knowledge and name recognition to enhance its basketball program.

ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro commended Wojnarowski’s decision, acknowledging his contributions to sports journalism and wishing him success in his new role at St. Bonaventure.

Bob Beretta, St. Bonaventure’s VP of Intercollegiate Athletics, expressed gratitude for Wojnarowski’s commitment to the school, noting that his decision underscores his dedication and passion for St. Bonaventure.
