Weekend festival in San Antonio revives Filipino and Pacific Islander heritage.

SAN ANTONIO – Thousands of people flocked to the third annual Filipino and Pacific Islander Festival in San Antonio over the weekend, bringing their wallets and appetites with them.

Event organizers aimed to create a space where Filipinos and Pacific Islanders could come together and showcase their cultures to the community.

“We want to share our culture with everyone,” said Angelica Guzman, one of the festival’s organizers.

Guzman and co-organizer Khai Sy were pleased to see the event grow from hundreds to thousands of attendees over the past three years.

Visitors like Alma Manabat Parker, who traveled from Ketchikan, Alaska, where a significant portion of the population identifies as Filipino or Pacific Islander, were impressed by the festival’s impact.

Manabat Parker, who also hosts her own festival in Alaska, emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and celebration.

This year’s festival featured a variety of food, local vendors, traditional Filipino music, dancers, and more, highlighting the rich traditions of the region.

Looking ahead, organizers are already planning next year’s festival to take place during Labor Day Weekend.
