U.S. to Send Military Aid Package to Ukraine

WASHINGTON – The United States is set to provide Ukraine with a military aid package totaling approximately $375 million, which includes medium-range cluster bombs, rockets, artillery, and armored vehicles, according to U.S. officials.

As global leaders convene at the U.N. General Assembly, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to leverage his appearance to bolster support and urge the U.S. to allow his forces to utilize long-range weapons against Russia. Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in Washington the following day.

The aid package consists of air-to-ground bombs with cluster munitions, munitions for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), Javelin anti-armor systems, Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles, bridging systems, and other military equipment, as per officials. This assistance is being provided through presidential drawdown authority to expedite the delivery of weapons to Ukraine.

In the ongoing conflict between Ukrainian and Russian forces, Ukraine recently reclaimed a processing plant in the Kharkiv border region from Russian occupation. Ukrainian troops also maintain control in Russia’s Kursk region following a bold incursion last month.

Furthermore, Zelenskyy visited a Pennsylvania ammunition factory to express gratitude to the workers producing essential munitions for Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression. With this latest aid package, the U.S. has now provided over $56.2 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the Russian invasion.

Stay tuned for further updates as the situation unfolds.
