Welcome Back, Trent Williams!
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams has ended his contract holdout and reported to the San Francisco 49ers to finalize a new deal.
Williams’ agency, Elite Loyalty Sports,, announced on social media that Williams was set to rejoin the team just six days before the season opener against the New York Jets.
After missing training camp and three preseason games while seeking a new deal, Williams is now back with the team, ready to sign a new contract. The 49ers have successfully resolved their major contract disputes before the season opener by also extending star receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a lucrative four-year, $120 million deal last week.
With Williams back in the lineup, the Niners are poised to have most of their key offensive players from last season back on the field for the 2024 season. His return is crucial as he is considered one of the most valuable assets on the team.
The 36-year-old Williams was owed $20.05 million this season, but he is now in line to receive a new contract to replace the final three years of his current deal. His average annual value of just over $23 million has been eclipsed by other linemen in recent years, but Williams continues to be highly regarded as one of the best in the game.
Williams has been a key factor in San Francisco’s offensive success and has consistently been recognized as an All-Pro left tackle in recent seasons. The Niners are set to kick off their season against the Jets on Monday night.
