Texas State Tabs Former JMU Transfer Jordan McCloud as QB1 for 2024

Get ready for an exciting season opener as the Texas State football team hits the field at UFCU Stadium to take on Lamar University this Saturday at 7 o’clock. Leading the charge is none other than reigning Sun Belt Conference Player-of-the-Year Jordan McCloud, set to dazzle as the starting quarterback.

With an impressive college football resume spanning seven seasons, McCloud has proven himself as a dual-threat quarterback. After standout performances at South Florida, Arizona, and James Madison, he’s now ready to showcase his skills at Texas State.

Texas State head coach GJ Kinne expressed his confidence in McCloud, highlighting his professionalism and talent on the field. While the competition for the starting spot was fierce, McCloud’s experience ultimately secured his position, though Kinne also plans to give Baylor transfer RJ Martinez some playing time.

The team is adjusting to McCloud’s playing style, especially the offensive line, given his height difference from the previous quarterback. Despite the changes, the players are eager to work with McCloud, praising his leadership and communication skills.

After a historic season that saw Texas State clinch its first-ever bowl game victory, expectations are soaring for the Bobcats as they head into the 2024 season. With McCloud at the helm, the team is poised for success and aims to continue its upward trajectory in the college football world.
