AUSTIN, Texas – Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was forced to exit the game due to an apparent injury in the second quarter of the No. 2 Longhorns’ matchup against UTSA, paving the way for Arch Manning to take over the reins.
At the time of his departure, Texas was comfortably leading 14-0 when Ewers took a misstep after a handoff, falling to the ground and requiring medical attention on the field. Despite eventually walking off the field, Ewers appeared visibly uncomfortable and was surrounded by staff as he made his way out.
Pulling his jersey over his face as he entered the team medical tent, Ewers’ status remains uncertain as Texas officials have yet to provide an update on his condition.
Manning wasted no time making an impact, throwing a 19-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Moore on his first play and later running for a spectacular 67-yard touchdown on Texas’ subsequent possession.
Ewers had an impressive performance prior to his injury, going 14-of-16 passing for 185 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception.
This setback for Ewers adds to his history of missing games due to injuries over the past two seasons.
