Exciting Changes Coming to Mega Millions in Texas
The Texas Lottery Commission is considering significant changes to the popular Mega Millions game, potentially doubling the ticket prices by next year. The game, known for its massive jackpots, could undergo rule modifications that would impact players statewide.
The proposed rules could see implementation as early as April 2025, introducing new features that aim to enhance the overall player experience and increase excitement around the game.
One major change includes eliminating the $1 Multiplier option and incorporating it into the $5 ticket price, potentially boosting non-jackpot prizes significantly. The draft proposal has already been approved at a recent Commission meeting and is currently open for public comment until September 23.
In 2023, Mega Millions generated over $440 million in sales, highlighting the game’s popularity among Texans. With a recent winning ticket sold in Sugarland worth $800 million, interest in the lottery is at an all-time high.
