NEW YORK – The music streaming service Spotify experienced a temporary outage on Sunday, leaving thousands of listeners without access to their favorite tunes and podcasts.
More than 40,000 people reported issues with the platform on downdetector.com, a website that allows users to flag problems with popular apps and services.
In response to the outage, Spotify posted on social media, “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!”
Many users took to the comments section to express their frustration, with some mentioning how the outage disrupted their workout routines or plans to play music at a special event like a child’s birthday party.
Fortunately, about an hour later, Spotify updated that the issues had been resolved and the app was back up and running smoothly.
Spotify is a popular music streaming service that boasts millions of users worldwide. In 2023, it was recognized as the largest streaming service, with over 626 million users and 246 million subscribers.
