Remembering Coach Tim Clarkson: A Legacy of Positivity
Tragedy struck the Smithson Valley High School community as they mourned the sudden loss of beloved wrestling and water polo coach, Tim Clarkson. The 57-year-old coach and economics teacher passed away after an apparent medical episode during a water polo practice, leaving students and staff in shock.
Despite efforts to revive him, Clarkson was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew him. Smithson Valley High School principal, Stacia Snyder, described him as a “beacon of positivity” who cared deeply for every student and colleague.
During his tenure at the school, Clarkson led the wrestling program to multiple district championships and accolades, earning recognition as the Texas High School Wrestling Coaches Association Class 5A Boys Coach of the Year in 2023. His passion for sports and dedication to his students left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
