SAN ANTONIO – In a dramatic turn of events, two men were apprehended by San Antonio police following a series of robberies that took place across the city on Friday.
Identified as Austin Mendoza, 20, and Marcelo Ojeda, 19, these individuals are believed to be connected to a string of robberies that spanned from Rolling Oaks Mall to Ingram Park Mall, covering a significant distance within San Antonio.
The ordeal began when Mendoza and Ojeda targeted a jewelry store at Rolling Oaks Mall shortly after the establishment opened for business. Mendoza attempted to make off with items from the store, resulting in a scuffle with a victim who sustained injuries in the process.
Later in the day, the duo made their way to Ingram Park Mall where they were caught attempting to break into vehicles. A confrontation with a mall security officer ensued, further escalating the situation.
Subsequent events led to the suspects pulling into a nearby convenience store, where they attempted to steal items and brandished a weapon before fleeing on foot, only to be apprehended by authorities shortly after.
Both Mendoza and Ojeda found themselves in custody, facing charges related to the robbery spree, among other offenses. The swift action by San Antonio police and their utilization of resources such as the EAGLE helicopter played a crucial role in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The incident serves as a reminder of the dedication and vigilance of law enforcement in safeguarding communities and upholding the law amidst challenging circumstances.
