SAN ANTONIO – A heroic act turned into a tragic incident when a man ended up in the hospital with multiple stab wounds after trying to stop an alleged assault under Interstate 35, as reported by San Antonio police.
The incident unfolded on Austin Street, a roadway tucked beneath the highway in the bustling heart of downtown’s near East Side.
According to authorities, the victim, along with his sister who is believed to be homeless, had made their temporary shelter under the highway to escape the harsh realities of life on the streets.
Things took a dark turn when a kind-hearted stranger, known for bringing them food, suddenly turned violent towards the woman. In an attempt to protect his sister, the victim stepped in, only to be viciously stabbed by the assailant who quickly fled the scene in a white getaway car.
The specifics of the vehicle’s make and model remain unclear at this time as the investigation continues.
Tragically, the victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, highlighting the dire consequences of intervening in such dangerous situations.
