Argument Over Family Member Custody Leads to Drive-By Shooting
San Antonio police reported that an argument over the custody of a family member resulted in two people being wounded during a drive-by shooting. The incident took place around 8 p.m. on Saturday in the 3500 block of South Zarzamora Street.
According to authorities, the altercation began between the mother and grandfather of a young girl on Royston Avenue. As tensions escalated, the mother, her boyfriend, the girl, and a 10-year-old boy decided to leave in a vehicle. The grandfather pursued them and eventually caught up, firing multiple gunshots at the car.
The mother sustained a gunshot wound to the side of her body, while her boyfriend was shot in the shoulder. Thankfully, their injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, and they were taken to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the children in the vehicle were unharmed during the incident.
Following the shooting, the grandfather returned to Royston Avenue, where he was apprehended for further questioning by law enforcement. The children were being released into the care of other family members at the time.
