SAPD arrests 10 in ‘street takeover’ groups across West Side, Bexar County

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – San Antonio police took swift action to disband several attempted street takeovers on Saturday night, resulting in the arrest of 10 individuals.

Police Chief William McManus commended the collaboration between SAPD, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, and the Department of Public Safety in addressing these events.

Last night, street takeover groups came to SA and were met by SAPD, DPS, & BCSO. The results of their efforts:
*minimal disruption
*several arrests (misd&fel)
*impounded vehicles
Just not a good idea to do this in SA!

“Last night, street takeover groups came to SA were met by SAPD, DPS and BCSO,” McManus tweeted. “The results of their efforts: minimal disruption, several arrests (misd — misdemeanors & fel — felonies), (and) impounded vehicles.”

SAPD’s Streets Crimes Unit assisted DPS in a street takeover event when one vehicle was seen driving recklessly in Bexar County. The vehicle attempted to flee but ended up blowing a tire, leading to four arrests with charges including unauthorized vehicle use and evading arrest.

Another street takeover on the West Side resulted in the arrest of an individual for unlawfully carrying a handgun and narcotics possession after being stopped by an officer. Eight vehicles were impounded as a result of the arrests.
