Welcome Back to San Antonio Zoo!
After a day of heavy rain and flooding, the San Antonio Zoo is now open to the public. The closure on Tuesday was necessary to ensure the safety of the animals during the severe weather conditions.
Areas within the zoo were affected by the flooding, including the training room, hippo viewing area, office spaces, gift shops, restrooms, and pathways. Despite the challenges posed by the weather, the zoo’s dedicated team worked tirelessly to prevent further damage and protect the animals.
Tim Morrow, president and CEO of San Antonio Zoo, expressed gratitude for the team’s efforts, saying, “It was a challenging day at San Antonio Zoo, to say the least, with all of the rain and area flooding. While we were closed for the day, our dedicated and passionate team spent the day taking care of the animals and working to protect the zoo from flood damage.”
The nonprofit organization relies on visitation and donations for its operations and animal care.
San Antonio Zoo encourages visitors to support the organization by purchasing memberships, standard admission tickets, or contributing to its annual fund. Online membership prices start at $38, and daily tickets start at $26.
For Bexar County residents, the zoo offers $8 Locals Day prices. This month, Locals Day falls on September 22 and September 24.
Operating hours for San Antonio Zoo are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday-Friday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday.
