SAN ANTONIO – Exciting news for Monterrey Iron & Metal on the Southwest Side! The salvage yard, known for its history of code violations, has successfully stayed in compliance for six months and is now in the clear of losing its license.
Monterrey Iron & Metal made headlines in February when it signed a code compliance agreement with the city, effectively suspending the revocation process that was looming over the facility.
The facility had faced multiple code violations in the past, sparking concerns from neighbors and authorities alike. However, after months of dedicated effort and hard work, Monterrey Iron & Metal has turned its operations around.
Development Services Department (DSD) has been closely monitoring Monterrey’s compliance, conducting weekly inspections to ensure adherence to regulations. The recent inspection on August 21 confirmed Monterrey’s continued commitment to compliance.
Jordan Vexler, the CEO of Monterrey Iron & Metal, expressed pride in reaching this milestone, stating, “We pride ourselves on our longstanding reputation for running an operation that is compliant, responsible, safe, and environmentally conscious. It is the core of who we are and will continue to be.”
With Monterrey now back on track, the DSD spokesperson announced that inspections will proceed as per normal city procedures, marking a new chapter for the salvage yard.
