San Antonio Sports and L’Étape Texas have made a major announcement, revealing that the Fiesta events have been canceled to allow the organization to focus on preparing for the highly anticipated 2025 NCAA Men’s Final Four.
According to Carolyn Wheat, a spokesperson for San Antonio Sports, “2025 is a big year for our nonprofit as San Antonio is hosting the NCAA Men’s Final Four, and we are part of the local organizing committee. Fiesta FitFest/L’Étape was a heavy lift for our small staff.”
Fiesta FitFest, a three-day event featuring cycling and running races for both adults and kids, as well as a fitness expo with free workouts and vendors, made its debut in 2022.
One of the highlights of the event was the L’Étape Texas by Tour de France, a part of a global amateur cycling series that attracted thousands of cyclists, including the likes of Manu Ginobili.
Despite disappointing the cycling community, Wheat emphasized that the decision to cancel the event was in the best interest of the organization, citing the cost prohibitive nature of the licensing fee for the L’Étape brand.
The 2025 NCAA Men’s Final Four is scheduled for April 5 and 7, while the Fiesta is set to kick off on April 24.
