Welcome San Antonio Residents – Have Your Say on the City Budget!
SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio residents have their first opportunity to share their thoughts on the proposed city budget with the full city council on Wednesday evening.
The city has already conducted 11 budget town halls across the city, but the public hearing at Municipal Plaza on Wednesday at 5 p.m. will be directly in front of the full city council.
The final public hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sep. 12.
San Antonio is considering a $3.96 billion budget, with several cuts due to lower revenues. While no changes to the property tax rate are planned, the city is looking to introduce or increase several fees.
The budget also allocates funds for additional police officers, firefighters, and homeless camp cleanups.
The council will review and make changes to the spending plan on Sept. 17 and 18, with a final vote scheduled for Sept. 19.
