Saleh: Reddick ruled out of Jets’ opener at San Fran

Haason Reddick Sidelined in Jets’ Season Opener

The New York Jets will be without linebacker Haason Reddick in their season-opening game against San Francisco on Monday night due to a contract dispute. Reddick, a two-time Pro Bowl edge rusher, has been absent from the team’s facility since being traded from Philadelphia to the Jets in April.

Head coach Robert Saleh confirmed that Reddick will not be playing in the game, citing the ongoing contract negotiations. Despite initially leaving the door open for Reddick to potentially participate, Saleh acknowledged that his absence is likely to continue.

Reddick, who has consistently recorded double-digit sacks over the past four seasons, is seeking a contract extension that the Jets are unwilling to grant. While Saleh remains optimistic about Reddick’s eventual return, the linebacker’s holdout has resulted in significant fines and game-day losses.

Wes Schweitzer, a backup offensive lineman, will also be sidelined for the game due to a hand injury, landing him on injured reserve for at least the first four games of the season. Zaire Barnes, a second-year linebacker, will miss the game with an ankle injury.

Despite these setbacks, Saleh remains focused on supporting his players and ensuring their success both on and off the field. AP NFL
