SAN ANTONIO – Exciting news for the residents of San Antonio as former Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos has officially announced his candidacy for the mayoral race in 2025.
With an impressive resume that includes serving as the Texas Secretary of State, commissioner of the Public Utility Commission of Texas, and chairman of the Texas Racing Commission, Pablos is no stranger to leadership roles. He is deeply rooted in the San Antonio community, a veteran entrepreneur, and a respected community leader.
Pablos also brings valuable experience as a senior advisor to Gov. Greg Abbott on Mexican and International affairs, a role that has undoubtedly shaped his vision for the future of San Antonio.
“This is a pivotal moment for our city,” Pablos emphasized in a recent news release. “With growth comes challenges, and it is crucial that we have bold and visionary leadership to navigate these changes. I am committed to ensuring that San Antonio embraces necessary transformations and works towards a brighter, more prosperous future for all residents. We must act swiftly to keep up with other Texas cities in attracting quality jobs and investments.”
His decision to enter the mayoral race comes after Pablos announced the establishment of a nonprofit aimed at creating a comprehensive public policy plan leading up to the 2025 election.
Pablos is not the only candidate vying for the mayoral seat, as others have also thrown their hats into the ring. Tech entrepreneur Beto Altamirano, along with council members Manny Peláez, John Courage, and Adriana Rocha Garcia, are among those seeking to succeed Mayor Ron Nirenberg, who is term-limited.
