SAN ANTONIO – Who says you need months to plan a giveaway event? Former Los Angeles Rams’ defensive back and Brackenridge alum, Ramon Richards, proved that wrong when he and his nonprofit Be Greater Inc. pulled off the Pre-Season Back to School Kickoff in just two weeks at the Alamo Convocation Center.

Richards and his sponsors were on a mission to ensure kids in San Antonio could kick off the upcoming school year and football season in style. The event featured free school supplies, cleats for football players, a 360-degree photo booth, and even free haircuts with barber chairs.

The sense of community and helping others brought Richards joy. “Honestly, my favorite part? My brother is here. My mom is here,” Richards shared with KSAT. “We used to need certain things, and now we get to help provide those things, as well.”

Inspired by the success of Saturday’s event, Richards plans to organize similar events in the future to continue giving back to the community.
