BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – In a tragic incident at the Bexar County Jail, a 62-year-old inmate passed away on Tuesday, as confirmed by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
Although the identity of the deceased inmate has not been disclosed, the sheriff’s office announced that he was pronounced dead around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Texas Rangers will be leading the investigation into the inmate’s death under the Sandra Bland Act, with oversight from the Texas Commission on Jail Standards.
Furthermore, the BCSO Internal Affairs and the Public Integrity unit are conducting an investigation into the administrative staff at the jail to gather additional information.
