George Clooney and Brad Pitt to Premiere “Wolfs” at Venice Film Festival
VENICE – George Clooney and Brad Pitt are set to dazzle the audience at the prestigious Venice Film Festival with the world premiere of their latest movie, “Wolfs.” Directed by Jon Watts, this crime-thriller features the two Hollywood legends as lone wolf fixers who find themselves on the same mission to cover up a crime.
Although not in competition, “Wolfs” will be screened for festival-goers on the Lido, starting Sept. 20, before its release on Apple TV+ on Sept. 27.
The decision to premiere the film on Apple TV+ came after a competitive bidding war, where the streaming service secured the rights to the movie. Despite initial plans for a robust theatrical release, the focus has now shifted to a limited release in theaters.
Director Jon Watts shared his excitement for the project, stating that “Wolfs” allowed him to return to a more grounded narrative after his work on the Spider-Man films.
The Venice Film Festival has always been a special place for Clooney and Pitt, who have individually graced the red carpet with their movie premieres. Despite their long careers, the two stars have only made one joint appearance back in 2008 for the premiere of “Burn After Reading.”
Pitt’s presence at the festival coincides with his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, who also received acclaim for her performance in another film. The former couple, who separated in 2016, is still navigating custody and financial issues, with their divorce case yet to be finalized.
