The Davenport volleyball team (6-3) faced off against Pieper (7-1) in an intense match on Tuesday night, ultimately falling 3-2 to their opponents in a back-and-forth battle.
The Wolves started strong, dominating the opening set with a 25-14 win. However, Pieper quickly bounced back, securing a tight 25-21 victory in the second set to even the match.
Davenport managed to edge out a close third set, winning 25-23. But Pieper answered back with a convincing 25-18 win in the fourth set, forcing a decisive fifth set.
In the final set, Pieper emerged victorious with a 15-10 win, handing the defending Class 4A state champions a loss in their home court debut.
