Loose Pack of Dogs Attack Woman and Damages Police Vehicle in San Antonio
A pack of dogs roaming loose from a Southwest Side home bit a woman on her leg and ripped the light off a San Antonio police patrol vehicle. The incident occurred at the corner of W. Southcross Boulevard and Priscilla Street on Wednesday afternoon.
Cell phone video captured the aftermath, showing at least six dogs biting at the front of a responding SAPD patrol unit. One of the patrol vehicles had a strobe light torn off by the pack of dogs in the same area.
An eyewitness, a nearby business owner who preferred to remain anonymous, recounted seeing the dogs jump the fence of a home at the corner and attacking the woman. A truck driver passing by stopped to help the woman, who was being bitten by one of the dogs.
The driver assisted the woman into the truck and rushed her to safety. Animal Care Services confirmed that the 44-year-old woman suffered a minor bite on her right leg. ACS officers took multiple dogs into custody to determine which one was responsible for the attack.
The dogs’ owner was identified and is facing several criminal citations, including for the bite, allowing the dogs to roam freely, and failing to provide proof of rabies vaccinations or microchipping. The neighborhood has reportedly been dealing with issues related to these dogs for some time.
Overall, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible pet ownership and the potential dangers of letting dogs run loose. The safety of both individuals and animals should always be a top priority.
