Breaking news in the NHL world as beloved player Johnny Gaudreau of the Columbus Blue Jackets tragically passed away in a fatal accident. The 31-year-old veteran was hit by a car while cycling in his home state of New Jersey. This heartbreaking incident has shocked the entire hockey community.

New Jersey State Police confirmed that Johnny Gaudreau and his younger brother, Matthew, were riding their bikes when a driver struck them from behind. The Gaudreau brothers, New Jersey natives, were in town for a family wedding, adding to the tragedy of the situation.

The driver, Sean M. Higgins, was charged with two counts of death by auto and is currently in custody. Investigations suggest that Higgins was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
