NASCAR is set to make history by hosting its first points-paying Cup Series race outside the United States in Mexico City. The race is scheduled for June 15 at the iconic Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
This exciting announcement was made during a news conference held by NASCAR and track officials, marking a significant moment for motorsports fans worldwide. In addition to the Cup Series, the Xfinity Series and NASCAR Mexico Series will also be part of the weekend festivities.
While the Xfinity Series has previously raced in Mexico City from 2005 to 2008, this will be the first time the Cup Series ventures outside the US for a points-paying race in the modern era. The race will feature top drivers, including Mexican driver Daniel Suarez, competing in the same circuit loved by Formula 1 fans.
The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, with its 17-turn road course spanning 2.674 miles and situated at an elevation of 7,342 feet, promises to provide an exhilarating experience for both drivers and spectators. Named after racing legends Pedro and Ricardo Rodríguez, the circuit has a rich history and has hosted several F1 races since its 2015 remodel.
