Mark Robinson Vows to Stay in NC Governor Race Despite Controversy

Despite facing controversy over racially and sexually charged comments posted on an online message board, North Carolina Republican gubernatorial nominee Mark Robinson has vowed to stay in the race, declaring that he will not be swayed by “salacious tabloid lies.”

Robinson, the current lieutenant governor who emerged victorious in the GOP primary earlier this year, is trailing behind Democratic nominee Josh Stein in recent polls. However, in a defiant video posted on social media, Robinson expressed his determination to continue in the race with the support of his followers.

Referring to an upcoming CNN report that he claimed will malign his character, Robinson assured his supporters that the words attributed to him in the report are not his true beliefs. Despite the allegations, Robinson remains resolute in his candidacy for governor.

The CNN report detailed inflammatory remarks made by Robinson on a pornography website forum many years ago, including derogatory comments about civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. and self-identifying as a “black NAZI.” The report also mentioned his questionable remarks about transgender pornography and voyeurism.

While Robinson has denied the allegations, his opponent Josh Stein and other critics have raised concerns about his suitability for the position of governor. Robinson’s history of controversial statements has prompted speculation about the impact on the GOP’s chances in North Carolina.

Despite the growing backlash, Robinson continues to enjoy support from high-profile Republicans, including former President Donald Trump. Trump, who previously praised Robinson for his passionate speeches, has endorsed him in the gubernatorial race.

As the campaign intensifies, both candidates are locked in a tight race, with Stein maintaining a lead in the polls. Robinson’s provocative rhetoric and past statements continue to be a point of contention in the campaign, with calls for him to withdraw from the race in light of the recent controversy.

With the election looming, the focus has shifted to policy issues and the candidates’ stances on key matters affecting North Carolina. Robinson’s supporters remain steadfast in their belief that he is the right choice for governor, while critics question his ability to lead the state effectively.

As the race heats up, the future of North Carolina’s gubernatorial election remains uncertain, with both candidates vying for support in a closely contested battle.
