UTSA Dominates Houston Christian in 45-7 Victory
SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA Roadrunners put on a dominating performance as they rolled to a 45-7 victory over Houston Christian on Saturday. Quarterback Owen McCown led the charge with three touchdown passes to secure the win.
McCown showcased his skills by completing 18-of-25 passes for 226 yards, connecting with three different receivers for scores. Running backs Brandon High Jr. and Kevorian Barnes also made significant contributions, combining for 138 yards rushing and a touchdown each. This victory marks UTSA’s 13th win in their last 14 home games.
The game saw some back-and-forth action, with Houston Christian briefly closing the gap with a 20-yard touchdown run by Jesse Valenzuela to make it 17-7. However, UTSA quickly responded with two more touchdowns before halftime, courtesy of Willie McCoy and Robert Henry, extending their lead to 31-7.
UTSA’s offense was firing on all cylinders, racking up an impressive 536 total yards while their defense held Houston Christian to just 177 yards. Quarterbacks Eli Brickhandler and Cutter Stewart struggled to get going, with Valenzuela leading the Huskies in rushing with 22 yards.
This matchup marked the first-ever meeting between the two schools, and UTSA made quite the statement with their commanding performance.
