The McCollum Cowboys Dominate the 2024 San Antonio ISD Volleyball Tournament
The 2024 San Antonio ISD Volleyball Tournament has provided an early-season opportunity for teams to showcase their skills and develop team chemistry. One team that has stood out in the tournament is the McCollum Cowboys, who are a young but talented squad consisting of one senior, seven juniors, three sophomores, and four freshmen.
In a recent match against the Jefferson Mustangs, the Cowboys displayed their dominance on the court. Led by sophomore Brooke Romo in the middle and freshman outside hitter Nyah Perez on the attack, the Cowboys swept the Mustangs in back-to-back sets with scores of 25-14 and 25-5.
Following the match, the Cowboys emphasized the importance of communication and teamwork in their success. Romo expressed how the win boosted their confidence and proved their abilities, while Perez highlighted how the team’s cohesion has improved throughout the tournament.
Head coach Valerie Vieyra praised her team’s hard work and composure, acknowledging the significant progress they have made as a young squad. The victory was a confidence booster for the Cowboys, and Vieyra is excited about their potential moving forward.
