Welcome to our blog where we bring you the latest news from the world of golf! Today, we have an intriguing story about Hideki Matsuyama, the talented Japanese golfer who recently made headlines at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Hideki Matsuyama, the Olympic bronze medalist, is currently facing an unexpected challenge as he prepares for the PGA Tour’s postseason. According to Golf Digest Japan, Matsuyama’s caddie and coach were victims of a robbery during a stopover in London after the Olympics.
The magazine reported that Matsuyama’s wallet was stolen, but fortunately, his Olympic bronze medal and passport were not taken. However, his caddie Shota Hayato and coach Mikihito Kuromiya weren’t as lucky. Their passports and visas were stolen, forcing them to return to Japan to expedite new documents for their return to the United States.
Despite this setback, Matsuyama remains focused on his game as he gears up for the FedEx Cup playoffs. Currently ranked No. 8 in the FedEx Cup standings, Matsuyama is determined to make it to the season-ending Tour Championship in Atlanta.
As Matsuyama prepares for the FedEx St. Jude Championship, he will be joined by Taiga Tabuchi, who will caddie for him in place of his regular caddie. With the support of his new team member, Matsuyama is optimistic about his chances in the upcoming events.
