Man, woman ejected from South Side crash identified by medical examiner

SAN ANTONIO – Tragedy struck on a South Side road over the weekend as a young man and woman lost their lives in a devastating rollover crash. The victims have been identified as Vincent Onofre and Mercadez Rivera, both only 19 years old.

The fatal incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday on Applewhite Road. According to reports from the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office, Onofre and Rivera were ejected from a white Cadillac Escalade after it rolled over.

Police stated that the Escalade, carrying Onofre, Rivera, and two other individuals, was speeding on South Zarzamora Street before veering off onto Applewhite Road where tragedy struck.

The vehicle left the road, collided with a concrete drainage ditch, and rolled over multiple times before coming to a stop in a grassy area. Sadly, Onofre and Rivera lost their lives at the scene.

Meanwhile, the two other occupants were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, with authorities working to piece together the events that led to this heartbreaking outcome.
