Welcome to San Antonio, where the rain can come fast and furious, catching many drivers by surprise. The recent downpour led to dramatic scenes of water rescues along the Interstate 35 corridor and N. New Braunfels Avenue.
One brave man shared a video of his SUV being carried away by the floodwaters, showing water up to his windows, carrying debris toward him. Despite the chaos, he managed to stay calm as he waited for rescue.
Another driver, Yoan Falcon, described the suddenness of the strong current that swept his family away. Fortunately, they were able to escape the vehicle and wait for help on higher ground.
Trash cans floated down the street, adding to the chaos and requiring cleanup by city crews. But just as quickly as the flooding arrived, the waters receded, leaving behind only scattered debris.
While the storm may have passed, the memories of the flooding will linger, reminding us all to be prepared for the unpredictable weather in San Antonio.
