Man gets 10-year probation for deadly 2022 crash

The Outcome of a Tragic Accident: Man Sentenced to Probation in Fatal Crash

A tragic accident in 2022 resulted in the loss of a young woman’s life, and now the man responsible has been sentenced to 10 years of probation. Alexander Castro received his punishment on Friday, which also includes a $10,000 fine, 180 days in the Bexar County Jail, and a two-year suspension of his license.

Although Castro was found not guilty of manslaughter by jurors, he was convicted of criminally negligent homicide in connection with the crash. The incident occurred when Castro, allegedly driving over 90 mph after drinking at multiple bars, collided with Alexandra Seybert’s Honda Accord while she was stuck in traffic on Highway 281 near TPC Parkway.

Castro’s attorney argued that the initial wreck causing the traffic jam and errors made by investigating officers played a role in the tragic outcome. The jury had a range of punishment options, ultimately deciding on probation for Castro.

Restitution for Seybert’s family will be determined at a later date, as they continue to cope with the loss of their loved one. The impact of this event serves as a sobering reminder of the consequences of reckless driving and the importance of safe behavior on the road.
