Man convicted of two murders sentenced to 48 years in prison

SAN ANTONIO – In a shocking turn of events, a man was handed a 48-year prison sentence for the brutal killings of two individuals in 2020. The case, which sent shockwaves through the community, involved a deadly confrontation over a drug debt.

Michael Morales, driven by a dispute over money owed for marijuana, fatally stabbed Felix Garcia with a screwdriver on February 11, 2020. Following this heinous act, Morales engaged in a heated argument with his common-law wife, Mary Sanchez, which quickly escalated into a fatal shooting.

Uncovering the truth behind Mary Sanchez’s murder led to Morales confessing to both killings. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar described the events as tragic and senseless, emphasizing the importance of seeking justice for the victims and their families.

Bexar County Criminal District Attorney Joe Gonzales echoed this sentiment, stating, “Morales has been held accountable for his brutal actions, and justice has been served for the families of Mary Sanchez and Felix Garcia.”

As the community grapples with the aftermath of these senseless deaths, Morales faces a lengthy prison term with no possibility of parole until he serves half of his sentence – a small measure of closure for the families affected by this tragedy.
