Rabies Warning in Kerr County: Resident Bitten by Rabid Kitten
In a shocking turn of events, a sick kitten in Kerr County has tested positive for rabies after biting a resident over the weekend. This marks the 14th case of rabies in the county this year, according to the county’s animal services department.
The individual who was bitten prior to the cat’s diagnosis was promptly informed of the dangers of rabies and urged to seek immediate medical attention, as reported by Kerr County Animal Services.
Kerr County Animal Services Director Reagan Givens emphasized the importance of vigilance, stating, “It isn’t unusual for these infected animals to be encountered in our neighborhoods – even inside city limits. Please refrain from feeding or touching all wild animals, including feral dogs or cats.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), while rabies is rare in humans in the United States, it poses a serious public health threat due to its high mortality rate.
