Exciting News for Katy Perry Fans!
Katy Perry is set to receive the prestigious Video Vanguard Award at the upcoming 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. Not only will she be honored with this award, but she will also be taking the stage to perform live!
This award has been previously given to iconic figures in the music industry such as Shakira, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, and more. Perry’s return to the VMA stage will mark her first appearance since 2017, when she both performed and hosted the award show.
Throughout her career, Katy Perry has won a total of five VMAs, with her first three awards coming in 2011 for various categories.
Bruce Gillmer, chief content officer of music at Paramount+, praised Perry, calling her a “musical powerhouse and true pop culture icon” with a game-changing creative vision that has captivated audiences worldwide.
In addition to Perry’s accolades, Taylor Swift leads the 2024 VMA nominations with 10, followed by Post Malone with nine nominations. The highly anticipated awards show will air live on Sept. 11 from the UBS Arena on New York’s Long Island.
Fans can start voting online for their favorite artists in 15 gender-neutral categories, with voting closing on Aug. 30. The best new artist category voting will continue throughout the live show.
