Karolina Muchova Advances to U.S. Open Semifinals
Karolina Muchova is back in the U.S. Open semifinals for the second straight year, making an impressive return from wrist surgery by defeating No. 22 Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-1, 6-4 on Wednesday.
After losing to eventual champion Coco Gauff in the 2023 semis, Muchova faced a setback due to a wrist injury sustained during the tournament, causing her to miss nearly 10 months of play. However, she made a triumphant comeback in June, just before Wimbledon, and has now secured her spot in her fourth career Grand Slam semifinal.
Next up, Muchova will face either top-seeded Iga Swiatek or No. 6 Jessica Pegula in the semifinals on Thursday, setting the stage for an exciting match-up.
