Jury views over 30 videos of child begging and starving

SAN ANTONIO – The courtroom was filled with tension as over 30 videos were shown to the jury in the trial of Brandon Cervera, a man accused of starving his 4-year-old son to death.

One particular video captured the haunting cries of Benjamin Cervera, pleading for food and water from his father, begging for a simple piece of bread. The heartbreaking footage painted a grim picture of the neglect and suffering endured by the young boy.

Presented by the prosecution, the videos depicted Benjamin’s desperate search for food in his own home. Despite his efforts to find nourishment, access to food became increasingly restricted as locks were set up on kitchen cabinets and the refrigerator, leading to a tragic outcome.

Detective Lawrence Saiz provided valuable insights into the case, highlighting the damning evidence collected from surveillance cameras and cellphone recordings found in the apartment.

The jury was also shown text messages exchanged between Brandon Cervera and his ex-wife, shedding light on the neglect and indifference that ultimately led to Benjamin’s tragic demise.

The harrowing nature of the evidence presented in court left jurors visibly shaken, yet Brandon Cervera remained impassive throughout the proceedings, facing the grave accusations against him.
