Judge recused from case with 3 ex-SAPD officers accused of killing woman

SAN ANTONIO – Exciting news update! Judge Stephanie Boyd of the 187th District Court has been recused from presiding over the case of three former SAPD officers charged with fatally shooting a woman inside her apartment last summer.

The decision was made after Judge Sid Harle with 4th Administrative Judicial Region granted the defense’s motion to recuse Boyd from handling the case. Sources revealed that the attorneys for the former officers were not satisfied with Boyd’s management of the case.

As of now, a new judge has not been appointed to the case. The incident involving Melissa Perez, who was tragically shot and killed inside her Southwest Side apartment in June 2023, continues to unfold.

Stay tuned as we will provide updates on this story as more information becomes available.
