LOS ANGELES – John David “JD” Souther, a legendary songwriter and musician, passed away at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy that shaped the country-rock sound of Southern California in the 1970s. Collaborating with iconic artists such as the Eagles and Linda Ronstadt, Souther made a lasting impact on the music industry.
Souther’s contributions to the Eagles’ biggest hits, including “Best of My Love,” “James Dean,” “New Kid in Town,” and “Heartache Tonight,” solidified his place in music history. His talent extended beyond the Eagles, as he worked with James Taylor, Bob Seger, Bonnie Raitt, and many other music legends. He was set to embark on a tour with Karla Bonoff before his untimely passing.
