Welcome to Miami: Dolphins Secure Fourth Straight Season Opener Win with Last-Second Field Goal

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins kicked off their season in thrilling fashion as Jason Sanders nailed a 52-yard field goal as time expired, leading them to a 20-17 come-from-behind victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, fresh off a big offseason payday, had an exceptional performance, throwing for 336 yards and a touchdown. He orchestrated an 8-play, 31-yard drive over the final 2:09, culminating in Sanders’ game-winning kick.

The Dolphins’ offense was sparked by a spectacular 80-yard touchdown catch by Tyreek Hill in the third quarter, bringing them within 17-14. Hill finished the game with seven catches for 130 yards, while Devon Achane added seven catches for 75 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Sanders also tied the game with a 36-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter, followed by pivotal plays from the Dolphins’ defense that set up Tagovailoa for the winning drive.

While Jaguars’ quarterback Trevor Lawrence and running back Tank Bigsby put up a good fight, the Dolphins ultimately prevailed with their tenacious performance.

Rookie receiver Brian Thomas Jr. made an impact with a crucial touchdown catch, further solidifying the Dolphins’ victory.

Stay tuned as the Dolphins look to build on this win as they host Buffalo on Thursday, while the Jaguars aim to bounce back when they face Cleveland next Sunday in their upcoming matchups.
