Legendary hockey player Jaromir Jagr has embarked on his 37th professional season, returning to play for his hometown team, the Kladno Knights, in the Czech league.
At 52 years old, Jagr, who is expected to retire after this season, showcased his skills by setting up a power play goal in Kladno’s 5-1 loss to Pardubice in their season opener on Wednesday night.
The veteran winger last played a season opener back in 2018 when he was released by the Calgary Flames. Since then, he has returned to Kladno, the team where he began his career as a teenager and now owns.
Despite not being fully fit due to a muscle injury that affected his pre-season training, Jagr took to the ice in Pardubice, emphasizing the need for more games to regain his top form.
Jagr expressed his optimism, saying, “That’s fine, (it was) the first game,” in an interview with local media.
