LONDON – Nicolas Jackson celebrated his 50th appearance for Chelsea in style, scoring two early goals to lead his team to a convincing 3-0 victory over West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday.
Jackson didn’t stop there, as he also provided an assist for Cole Palmer in the early stages of the second half, further solidifying Chelsea’s dominance over West Ham, who were met with boos from disgruntled fans at the end of the match.
This win marked Chelsea’s third triumph of the season, all of which have come on the road.
Meanwhile, Julen Lopetegui, the new coach of West Ham, finds himself under pressure following the team’s third loss in the nascent Premier League campaign.
It took Chelsea less than four minutes to assert their authority on the game, with Jackson combining with Jadon Sancho before slotting home a precise finish past Alphonse Areola.
Sancho, who recently joined Chelsea from Manchester United, provided another assist and made a strong impact in his first start since May 2023.
In the 18th minute, Jackson added his second goal of the game, displaying poise and precision to slot the ball past the West Ham goalkeeper.
As the match progressed, West Ham had flashes of opportunity, but Chelsea’s defense stood firm and denied any real threat until Jackson turned provider for Palmer early in the second half.
With this victory secured, Chelsea now looks ahead to their next challenges in the Premier League.
Manchester United is set to face Crystal Palace in one of the later matches, while Liverpool will host Bournemouth.
